A famous person in the history whose name was Guan Yu. He was a general serving under the warlord Liu Bei during the late Eastern Han Dynasty era of China. In his real life, he made many successes in military activities; he also had a very good justice, and he is extremely loyal to his brothers of different mothers. So Guan yu had been worshiped in a lot of fields. People believed that Guan yu would bring them justice, loyalty, success, strength and even business.
Especially, in the Gangs, Gang members worship Guan Yu a lot. They hope that Guan Yu can bring them strength and loyality.
Why in the title does it saw Guan Gong, and in the post it says Guan Yu? Does he go by different names? What did he get worshiped for? What were his successes? What is a goddess? Is a goddess male or female? I would like to know more information about this person?
ReplyDeleteSory my bad, Guan Yu is this general's original name. He was a famouse general in ancient time. Based on the history, he had great strength and helped his sworn brother establish a empire. In this process, he was absolutely loyal to his sworn brother no matter what happened. Rather than that, once a poison arrow was shot in his arm reached his bone. A doctor had to use the knife to chop his meat off and scratch the poison out of the bone. Guan yu accepted that, he drank,ate and playing chess while the doctoring was operating on him. Those stories was spread in thousands of years, people like to have the same strength and power as Guan yu did. As time goes, people made him into the legend as a Godess. Guan Gong is the name that people gave him to show their respectation. In Chinese, Gong always means a great man.
